Meet the Elements Project
Start here: http://www.chem4kids.com/files/atom_intro.html
Then go to some of these sites for help with what your specific element is like:
•http://www.chemicalelements.com/ - interactive table - GO HERE FOR ATOMIC STRUCTURE
•www.chemicool.com/ - interactive table
•http://www.webelements.com/ interactive table
•http://periodic.lanl.gov/ - interactive table
•http://chemistry.about.com/cs/howthingswork/f/blbodyelements.htm tells elements that are in the body and estimated percentages
•https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/build-an-atom/latest/build-an-atom_en.html - a simulator where you can build an atom. Click the check box for stable/unstable to help you know if you have built it correctly.
NEW LINKS!
http://www.chem4kids.com/files/atom_bonds.html - BONDING BASICS
Stuff you need to understand before you can understand bonding:
http://www.chem4kids.com/files/atom_structure.html - Atomic Structure
http://www.chem4kids.com/files/atom_orbital.html - Orbitals
http://www.chem4kids.com/files/atom_electron.html - Electrons
http://www.chem4kids.com/files/atom_ions.html - Ions
How can you tell which kind of bond will form?

Welcome to Science!
8/8/16
Welcome to 7th Grade Science at O'Brien STEM Academy!
This year, we will be studying Life, Earth, and Physical science, with an emphasis on how it all fits together. Some things you can look forward to studying include Atoms, Molecules, Chemical Reactions, Cells, Body Systems, Ecosystems, Geologic Processes, Catastrophic Events, and Human Impact on the Environment.
What you will need to bring for Life Science:
- A Composition Book
- A Pencil
- A Folder or Divider in your Binder specifically for Science
Other Recommended Supplies:
- A USB Drive
- Handheld Pencil Sharpener
- Colored Pencils
- Clear Tape
- A Highlighter
Our studies will include many exciting labs and hands-on activities, so please remember to pay your lab fee!
To cover the costs of lab materials, the O'Brien Science Department is requesting $10 from each student, which can be paid at the front office.
